Phase 2, Post #1

Prior to spring break, we presented our midterm projects in which we analyzed various technological industries and issues that arised with them due to various salient social identities. All the issues and solutions presented were all extremely interesting and are very much relevant today.

One of the ideas that intrigued me the most was the use of a study mode on your mobile device to limit procrastination and optimize how productive your study time can be. I personally thought that the motivation behind the software was very interesting, relevant, and likely to be beneficial to many students today as we spend large portions of our times with technology related things, namely social media and video games.

While the study mode software may not affect Facebook's ad delivery algorithm that much, I think that the ad delivery algorithm can affect the study mode algorithm greatly in terms of spread or growth. If such a software were to be developed in real life, I think it will spread around to many students very easily, thanks to the Facebook Ads algorithm that I examined for my project. The developers of the app would likely hypertarget students like me and many others to try to use said software to optimize their study times.
